We did it! Our application for the GREET program was successful and now we begin planning for the next phase of this exciting collaborative research venture!
More information will follow in the coming weeks, but we thought it prudent to introduce the GREET team that will be working in Grenoble, France.
The team consists of two members from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ: Prof. Craig A. Aspinwall and Mr. Mark T. Agasid. We will be traveling to Grenoble, France to work at The Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS) with Drs. Michel Vivadou and Christophe Moreau.

The GREET program
In honor of the International Year of Chemistry (2011), the American Chemical Society (ACS) has established an international research grant program to facilitate collaboration between US laboratories and collaborators abroad. The following description is from the ACS website (chemistry.org):
"In celebration of the International Year of Chemistry, the ACS International Activities Committee and the ACS Office of International Activities are pleased to sponsor the ACS GREET Pilot Program which aims to provide intensive, high impact international research experience and collaboration opportunities to US early-to-mid career researcher mentor and graduate/undergraduate student mentee teams. Research teams are asked to establish new international collaborations with a host academic or industrial laboratory of their choosing and travel to that site for a 4-8 week research, training, or educational experience. Research teams are asked to consider how to engage the academic community at their home institution upon their return and consider how to continue their new collaboration with their host institution/laboratory as well."
